Easter Egg hunt and more....

Growing up tradition was we would have an indoor egg hunt with the plastic eggs. The plastic eggs would be filled with money, that was the most exciting part that I remember. Some with quarters and some with dollar bills. When your little $1 means a lot! Then we would find the hard boiled eggs we colored previously. It was a lot of fun and then we would eat them! I want to keep those traditions going for my children.
Isaac has had many questions as to what Easter is. Adam and I have been telling him that Jesus came to save us from our sins but many people didn't like Jesus. So they nailed him to the cross. He died and three days later her rose from the dead. I told him that no one on earth has ever done that for someone except Jesus. He really understood what we were telling him. It's amazing because child like faith is what he has. He believes with his heart that Jesus is real even though he has never seen who Jesus is. It brings tears to my eyes to know that he really does love and care about Jesus. Train up a child in the way that he should go so when he is older he will not depart from it. These are things that will go with him for ever. So we all sat down yesterday at the table and Isaac told everyone the story about Jesus. It was so cute. Even my brothers were blown away. They were like "Wow he knows all that". This is how he said it "Jesus came to the earth to save us and three days later three he rose from the dead and loved all the bad guys" It made me and Adam proud of him. He has a true gift of understanding.
We also did the egg hunt outside and it was a cold and windy day but we managed to do it. Neal and Allen hid the eggs they did a good job and kept it easy for the little ones.

Coloring Easter Eggs

the finishing product

This was Addison's first year to color eggs. She knew right away that she needed to dip the egg in something. Isaac was a pro at it and knew exactly what to do. He got fidgety though while the eggs were taking time to get the color on them. I made a slide show so enjoy....I looked up the History of coloring eggs and why people do it because I honestly didn't know. This is what I found.
From a Christian perspective, Easter eggs are said to represent Jesus' emergence from the tomb and resurrection. Decorating eggs for Easter is a tradition that dates back to at least the 13th century, according to some sources. One explanation for this custom is that eggs were formerly a forbidden food during the Lenten season, so people would paint and decorate them to mark the end of the period of penance and fasting, then eat them on Easter as a celebration.
